Going to pick up a flaring tool set to do brake lines. Anybody have any recommendations or are they all pretty much the same?

I got a cheap one from a parts store and it would only make junk flares after the 4th or 5th one. I've seen some nicer ones I think from Eastwood.

once you get the Mastercool, the first thought is... "I can't believe I d*cked around with POS ones all those years..."

been using one of mastercools for over 6-7 years now.:bow::bow:

had to get snap-on to order it for me . had to get all the info for them and then thay ordered it. now thay sell them also. all this cause thay only sell whole sale not direct.

I won't use it that much, but I also don't want to have to keep cutting the ends off of tubing because it doesn't work. I will be swapping in an F350 M/C and booster into my new old F150 and I need to change the tubes to accommodate the M/C. So, I don't need a $300 or more one, but I also don't want to spend $20 and ruin my brake lines trying to get one right. Something decent quality probably over $50 but perhaps less than $120.

thing with otc tools is its all china now . :doah:

Name something that isn't made in China, Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia, Mexico, or any other country.

What ever happened to making things in the good Ole' US of A.

it was farmed out to Mexico in 87 by a white collar desk jockey....

and if its actualy made in the usa its few and far between on good or bad. i actualy think its not as good anymore. hate to say this. :doah::eek1:

That OTC link is identical to the crappy one I had. It did work ok for the first few flares an then the clamp stopped gripping the tube tight enough to work properly.

The last set I bent up the tubes myself and brought the tubes and fittings to a brake shop that had the tools.

So, any flare tools that are similar in design and function as the el Cheapo's but made much better for a reasonable price then? I thought I saw a $50 Mastercool somewhere....
