I've been looking for some way to do this for a while. There are a few clocking plates for this setup but the mounting feet on the adapter still hang really low (way too low for a flat belly). I'm talking about the figure 8 adapter, BTW.

Anybody ever make their own 465/205 adapter or know of one that I don't? Would going to a round pattern 465/205 give me more options?

Go to the round adapter, but you will need to find a "short" 465-205 (or a 208 with some grinding) adapter as the "tall" round adapter is pretty much the same as what you have.

I think they are longer overall too. So you'll need new shafts and stuff.

I may not be reading your post right, so if I am, apologies.

There are only two 465/205 adapters. One tall, figure 8 pattern, and one short, round pattern.

The tall is approx 7" long, the short is approx 10" long.

There was a post I was saw the other day that showed an advance adapters(?) 205 aluminum adapter, but I *think* it was for a 4L80E.

With the round pattern adapter, do you even need a clocking ring, or is it as easy as turning the 205 "up" one bolt hole on the adapter? Would make for weird stick placement I guess.

You are, I should have been a little more clear. You would just have to grind a slot for the shift rail on a 465-208 adapter to bolt a (round pattern) 205 to it. The 465-208's were available with a tall and a short mounting foot for the tranny mount.

But that would require the 465 with a long 32 spline output and a 205 with the long 32 spline input.

Advance adapters makes several shorter adapters in the 3-5 inch long range, but would require a custom output (mainshaft) to work with a 205.

Turning the (round pattern) 205 up one bolt hole would make the front d-shaft angle impossible and make for an interesting passenger seat.

Gotcha...so the 208 adapter is long enough to mate the 32 spline 465/205 setup? Interesting.

You need to run a 1ton frame. Nick's setup is only 1" or so from allowing a flat pan from the factory. IIRC the 1 ton frame is about 2" taller under the cab.

I know, I'm not really much help. Sorry. :o

So could I get a long 32 spline output for the 465 and a 32 spline female input for the 205 and use either the factory 465/205 round adapter or the short 465/208 adapter? Is there a way to redrill my 465 and 205 to the round patterns? How can I clock this setup (I assume someone makes a clocking plate)? TIA

Yes, but you will need a long 32 spline input gear which is different than the regular th400 32 spline input. I don't know about redrilling the face of the adapter for the round pattern. It may be possible or would be a good time to get a lowmax. You would just need the regular old round pattern clocking plate to make it work with the round pattern 205.

I assume you have seen this:

Which would be a heck of a lot easier than finding and gathering all of the needed parts.
