Flat Tow Question

I'm about to flat tow my K5 on a 800 mile round trip to Drummond Island Mich. and was wondering if I should pull the front driveshaft? I will be removing the rear so I don't heat up the trans but I was wondering if putting the T-case in neutral or 2 wheel would be good or should I remove the driveshaft???

If you have locking hubs (unlocked) than you can leave it in. If you have drive flanges I would pull the driveshaft.

The hubs are unlocked but the front driveshaft still spins when I tow....
I also unlock the steering wheel while I was pulling it around the block, but should I lock it on the e-way?

Was it in 4WD? If not I don't see how it could spin.

I think you have to keep the steering wheel unlocked all of the time.

With the hubs unlocked there shouldn't be anything spinning the axle shafts, should there?

Mike

it should not spin but with the oil or if an axle is not totally disengaging or the rear is turning it, but if everything is in N it sould not.
Yes leave the steering wheel unlocked and dont try to back up because it will jack knife the front tires and youll be stuck. ( reason i leve shafts in if i get trapped or blocked at a stop simply un hook from truck start up the burb drive it to where i can get out and straight and rehook up only takes a few minutes.

Going down the highway my passenger can see my front shaft spin. It might be spinning 50 RPM while the rear is spinning 3000 RPM. Its certainly nothing to worry about, that might be what the op was thinking of.

Drag inside the t-case causes it to spin, if you've ever had a t-case with oil in it outside of a truck you can see the same thing happen.

Leave the front in. Yea it'll likely spin a lil, no more then if you are driving it down the road. Steering has to be unlocked so disconnect the battery. What size tires on the K5? Love to see some pics of your set up.
