I need to replace this cover on a 85 blazer- 700R transmission.
Do you have a picture, part number & place to buy one?
Everything i find on Summit, JEGS, Speedway are only 4 bolts.
Mine is 6 bolts.

What you need is an OEM 4WD bottom cover - the 2WD versions are what the aftermarket bases their covers off of.

The 4WD versions are actually structural because originally they were the supporting mount for the motor bracket strut/rods that connected to the cover - this was part of a couple of brackets/rods that helped strengthen the trans case in 4x4’s.

Your K5 may no longer have the motor bars but it would be a good idea to find the related parts/pieces and install when you get a proper cover.

Just use your application for parts searching - there were a few variants but for the most part that type of 4x4 only cover has been used since ‘78~’91 on squares ( your specific would be a ‘82~’91 TH700R4 ).

I’ll look for a few pics of these parts for you and post them.

Here’s a pic of one of those rods attached to a bracket sandwiched between the engine block related motor mount bracket - the other end attaches to a mounting boss on the converter cover bottom side ( one for each side ).

Hope this info helps.

I do still have the supports in place, that answers the question of "what the heck are those", they are connected to the frame on the front.
I've been struggling to find pictures of what it looks like. The ones I've found do not connect to the support brackets.
Thank you for the reply & any further directions.

If your engine has an OEM oil cooler the driver side bar will be bent different for clearance and that side trans cover mounting point will be casted a little lower in position so keep that in mind when getting a replacement cover.

I was hoping that you would see this because I just knew you had a good clear pic of that cover.
If we can confirm which part numbers work for his transmission I have 8 of them, some 700r4, some 4l60e some 4l80e.
Spacing changes between them

How do I find out the part number?
The pictures @nvrenuf posted looks correct. I have not seen one like that while searching.

I never paid attention enough to the part numbers on these covers but some will fit others.
John may know what fits what because he has owned all versions and is very particular to this type of trivial information.

Yeah I have a few variations and now I know what this is for.

Those look like the correct one.. how can I confirm on my end?
These 6 different ones.
I can ask you to take some measurements and some pictures.
The part number on your case might help especially if one of the guys here can run that number.

The 1st (lowest)2 holes on the trans are about 11.5 distance.
The space between the frame brackets are about 16 inches.

I don’t know the part numbers, this cover is the only one I’ve ever owned (bought it new from a dealer MANY moons ago).

I always thought there was 4 variations; with or without oil cooler and 4L80E vs everything else. This is just based on hearsay I’ve read, no hard evidence.

A little.
I will prepare a couple of drawings for you to get me measurements
Thank you. The space between the trans holes are..
Bottom going up 1-2 (2.75 inches) hole 2-3 (3.5 inches) driver side.
Passenger side; hole 1-2 (3 inches) 2-3 (4 inches)

Ok.
Can you also get me the distance across the top holes?
And the bars are they able to spread or tuck in?
I have different spacing on those as well

Yes they can adjust.
The holes across the top are approximately 19 inches maybe 19.75
