flowtech 11500flt

this going on a k5? when i installed my flotechs from autozone, i had to significantly trim down the bump stop bracket to clear the tubes.

other than that, i like them, they have thin flanges but other than that after two years of use, they are working well.

thats good to know i just got them today im gonna install them or at least try to tommorow (sat) how did you fit them in there? driverside (top/bottom) pass (top bottom?) did you notice a diffrence? im going to be running a 4ft exhaust off them and dump them out the sides behind the doors where you cant see them i want LOUD

The paint that is on them will burn off, you'll need to remove all of that paint and repaint them with high temp paint (like that used to repaing BBQ grills).

I had a set of Flowtechs on mine before (that part number I think) and they sucked, always hit either the shackle for the front driveshaft of the passenger side. One of the primaries cracked after a couple years (lifetime warranty though, I guess).

LIke others stated, dont bother putting HI temp paint over their paint. neither will last but a week. I would get them sand/bead blasted and the paint them, check around, shouldnt cost but 50bux to get them blasted. The hi temp paint on fresh bare metal should actually last awhile.

As far as fit, they should

In this pic, the top one is hooker header that I replaced with the bottom one. The top one fit horribly. The bottom fit very nicely and the ones you are getting are similar design

do you all have any install tips? should i go from the top or bottom? and i was gonna run a little exhaust cutout off the headers into a cheap mufflers or 2 cheap mufflers. i only want them going no farther than my doors.

If you want it to go super smooth, remove the spark plugs and dipstick tube, but not necessary. I took them in and out from under the truck, esp. the drivers side. You have the brake booster and A/C brackets and steering in the way. Take your time and dont rush it. Get the Felpro gasket #1444 (I believe) itll keep you from having leaks. That part number may be wrong and I hope someone will correct it , if it is.

so i shouldnt use the gaskets it came with? also when i hook the headers up what do i need after the headers? can i put the cutouts right after the headers> than the 4ft tube and muffler

top to bottem worked for me just fine, but i dont have a/c either.

if you want loud and have the money get the cutouts, i ran my blazer 30 miles to the exhaust shop on open headers and i couldnt hear for a week after that.

with true duals and flowmaster 40's out behind the tires with no tips its decent sound but at lower rpms its not really that loud, but you get up on it and it sounds like nascar out there :D

as for gaskets i have tried the indivudal gaskets and all they did was blow out, i tried the quadrupal layer aluminum ones and they blow out.

im now on hard copper gaskets. i will let ya know how they work, but the biggest thing about headers is how the bolts never stay tight and thats what causes the blow outs.

i check my bolts on the headers once a week for that reason. thats the only way i know to keep up on them.

I would not use the gasket from the box. I would get the fel pro one.

Ive got thru a few sets of diff. header bolts. Unless you get the super high dollar stuff, just keep checking the bolts on occasion. I usually do a check every couple weeks, I check all the fluids, belts, tire pressure, various nuts bolts, lug nuts, look for leaks, etc etc. I like to do this stuff and it helps catch any problems early.

HEre is my K5

i used dynomax black jacks on mine.used red locktite on the header bolts. i've had mine on over 6 months and haven't had to tighten em at all or replace any gaskets.BUT if your spring bolts are turned in the collector will rub the bolt and if you have a t-case drop on it you'll have to use flex pipe cause with the slope of the engine the exhaust won't line up

thats great i have a t-case drop:doah: maybe and inch or 2 but i got one. i might try to get them on tommorow but will it hurt the engine running just headers for a couple days

how much driving ya gonna do? and if in town you could get pulled over for noise.
i plan on driving it about twice a week and maybe every other weekend to the offroad park(which requires mufflers) so i m kinda stuck. what kinda pipe do i run off the collector on the headers???

do you mean what size? it depends on what your wanting, is the motor stock? are ya gonna keep it stock for the most part for a while?

if so you could go with a 2 1/4 inch pipe and be fine and it will fit down the frame good.

if ya got a mild or bigger motor go with 3 inch for better flow.

the motor might get some tbi upgrades and thats it. and them in saving for a crate engine. so i hope these headers fit my crate engine i get(if i ever get it)

I'm using Earl's header gaskets myself. Havent had any problems and they've been on for 2 years and I know I'm missing a bolt and have a couple loose ones, just been too lazy to tighten them back down.

could i run this thing straight headers for a couple days without hurting the motor?
