Foose

the GTX is the best body mopar did in my book:waytogo: I love every year. None of them are really hotrods. Hot rods can be built out of ANYTHING. A set of big n littles, black paint, flames, and a scoop will turn even a GEO into a Hot rod:D

they always where expensive as he!!, even back in the day.. :eek1:

example... sb chevy e-brock performer intake back in the day? $125.. sb mopar? $190 :eek1: it was always like that... but I built some nasty 340's... all W2 headed stuff, solids, high comp, etc... 71 challenger and cuda, 72 duster, etc..

I finally gave in, and started building, what I refer to as "king of the junkyard"... :haha: and went full bore with the chevelles.. musta built a 1/2 dozen or so, 69's to 72..... matter of fact, saw my towtruck guy that i sold my blue chevelle to in the bagel shop this morn...

always wanted to do a 69 GTX.... my good friend in high school had a really sick black 440 67 belvidere.. torque monster....

Kinda funny how this thread evolved. Started with Chip Foose, went to big bling wheels, then tech schools, finally somehow ended up being about overpriced Mopars.

I like Chip Foose as a person, not very crazy about the style of stuff he builds. I don't like big wheels in most cases. I took an autobody class for 2 years in high school and learned much more in the real world. And my favorite "muscle car" isn't a '69 Camaro, it's a '70 Impala with a big block.

That about sums up my two cents :D

covered all the bases there! :haha:

my good bud was a big impala guy.... sb early 70's stuff... did a lot of cruising in them... :woot: :pimp:

The ONLY good Mopar is one with a 426 Hemi in it, other than that I hate Mopars.

to each his own.... I don't have a brand loyalty thing... if the sheetmetals cool, I'll dig it...

that being said, can't say there where any Furds that did anything for me... eh, 71 Mach's not that horrible... but I'm no fan of most Ford motors..

the 390 is a pretty stout mill. in stock form the few I've known hauled A22. I like the 66 fairlane gta's my mom had one, also a 390. hers was red but just like this one

Tell me something good about them? Even the Ford guys hate them.

Martin

honestly, I was hoping to hear what you had to say, I have never heard anything bad about them.

And as far as ford guys hating them, I am THE ford guy, and all the ford guys I know like the old fe. They generally will build a 429-460 though, because they are cheaper (plus the cubic inch thing).

going back to the foose thing,,, I think he designs the cars he does with the wheels he does to get people to buy huge aluminum wheels (which his company makes:rolleyes:) so he makes more money. The dude is brilliant, a great artist, does things right, and has an attention to details like none other. He just has a tendency to turn EVERYTHING into a protouring machine. I'm definately a fan of protouring, but theres a place for stock and even prostreet too. I think most of it on the shows is advertisement for his wheels. I'd like to see his own personal likes and wants in a car. (And not his ford from overhaulin, it dont count:D)

What about the work?

What about the work they do on overhaulin (or any of these TV shows for that matter)? Is it really possible to do a 'quality' build in that amount of time? Granted, they have fifty-eleven dudes going to town on the car at any one time but is putting that much bondo on the car really the right way? I see them slather that stuff on by the bucket full and often wonder...is that right?

And who is that exotic looking brunette that's been on lately...good lawd!:woot:Wife is always asking why I like the show so much.

I have started watching these guys.
