OK been out of the loop for a bit. My brain hurts from trying to remember and searching isn't really helping any either.

My crew cab has a Ford 60 up front, so, need a driver drop t-case. Got a Ford 205 at the yard this morning, wasn't even looking for one, but it was already pulled laying on the ground.

Right now I'm gonna run a Turbo 400 that I have, but later gonna swap to a 465. I know the later 400s and 465s that had the GM 205 would interchange with each other, is what I'm trying to do.

The 400 that I have is a 2wd, has the longer 9 1/4" shaft stick out, which uses the short 205 input. And also uses the figure 8 style adapter.

The Ford has the 6 bolt round style, like the 86 and newer GM 205s. Got one of them too.

If I'm thinking this right, in order to use the Ford behind the 400 or 465, need to swap in the long input and use a spacer (2 1/2" IIRC) with the short 86 and newer adapter??

You need to swap a short 32 spline input into your Ford case and use the later round pattern 400 to 205 adapter.

The later round pattern 400 adapters (that used the long input gear) are the same length as the earlier ones, they simply went to a shorter output in the 400.

later 465 to round pattern 205 adapters are super long and you'd need to switch to a long 32 spline input to use that one, not a huge deal though.

Advance Adapters probably has some options as well.

I'm trying to remember if I still have that long adapter, I had two at one point. One went in the 84 I built, dunno what the heck I did with the other one. I know I still have the 205...

I have the late 465/205 adapter along with the long input 205, but will need a clocking ring or drill some holes and notch the adapter.

But since the holes are different from a Ford 205 to a Gm 205, can I get a clocking ring with one pattern on one side and different on the other??

No one makes that as far as I know, you can drill and tap the face of the 205 or buy a blank clocking ring and drill it yourself

I'll have to look into it. I have a divorced Ford 205 that I was gonna use, but the crossmember I had made wouldn't fit. Either way I need to get a different tranny crossmember or modify the current one with either t-case I use. I'm leaning towards the divorced, as I have a 2wd NV4500 for if I ever swap to a Cummins.

Just got back from working on it a bit, got the crossmember to fit inside the frame, but think I put it in backwards, only so much that one can do before the wife starts bitching....
