I've got a line on a Ford Dana 60 front axle, and I want to know what issues I might run into...

If I get it, it would get used for a SAS into my big-block gasser Burb (1994, 3/4-ton). The Burb already has 4.10 gears, and so does this axle. It's an open-knuckle kingpin axle with open gears.

From the BOM:
-Application: 1988.5-1991.5 F-350 Monobeam
-U-Joints: SPL55-4X
-35-spline inners, 30-spline outers
-8x6.5" bolt pattern

Questions:
1) Does this particular axle have any quirks/weaknesses that I should be aware of that would make it undesirable for my application?

2) Any issues with availability/price of replacement parts (brake parts, seals, etc.)?

3) It's from a dually - I should be able to run HMMWV wheels unmodified on it (just like a GM DRW front), correct?

4) I've already got an ORD crossover/histeer kit designed for a GM D60 sitting in my garage. Which parts from that kit will not be compatible with this axle?

5) How much of a PITA will the spring perch width be (they're wider than the '78-'79 Ford axles which bolt right in...)?

I believe the only thing you will have a problem with is the perches, especially the pumkin side.

It's really just like the 77-79 Ford D60's except for the spring pad width, same wheel bearings, same kingpin parts, same size shafts/joints etc.

The wide spring pads are a pain to fit in that truck and the brackets end up a little odd (ask me how I know :doah:), we'll have a kit for that soon. The main problem is that the tires will rub the springs when you turn and it will reduce your steering angle.

I saw that via the online catalog - any idea of a timeline? PM me if company policy allows but you don't want to publicly state a release date...

Any insight on question #4 above?

ETA: the x-over/histeer kit I have is for the GM D60 in a 73-87 chassis...

I couldn't promise you a date but we have them in trucks and should be a production item soon.

The tie rod will be the same, the draglink will need to be 5-6" shorter.
