ford=powerstroke,dogge=cummins

Daimler Chrysler is no longer and a couple years ago both Mercedes and Dodge stated that a Mercedes diesel would never be put in a Dodge Truck.

Also, Ford is making its own in house diesel right now, but it is a V6 slated for the F-150 since the deal with Navistar fell through of the baby stroke.

Not in a Dodge truck but my Father In Laws Sprinter chassis RV has a Mercedes diesel in it.

There are mercedes diesels in dodge vans though.

Well correct me if Im wrong, but arent the sprinters built in germany? Or they were atleast designed and built in germany (and the rest of europe) long before they came here, that could be the reason

I doubt Cat would get into the light engine buisness. From what I understand it's all Cat can do right now to keep their new twin turbo mess from burning Freightliner trucks to the ground.I had "heard" that they would be doing Industrial engines(heavy equip) only by 2010 due to all the emission regulation's coming down.

there will be a cummins v6 availiable in the '09 or '10 Dodge lineup

duramax is a good engine........Isuzu made sure of that.

A V6 is being made and a V8 also. As to where they are going to place the V8, I don't know.

GM is also to release the 4.5L Duramax with it's wierd intake exhaust setup(the intakes are where the exhaust manifolds normally are and the exhaust comes out in the valley) that is supposed to be in the 09 or 10 light trucks. Power output is supposed to be 300hp and 520ft/lbs.

jes jes it is............'09 '10 will have a whole new fleet of diesel options through out the market........its about damn time.

Yes!! That is the truck I have been waiting for! If only they make it in a 3/4 ton it will be perfect!! Except for the Silverado HD front clip that is. The suburban looks great how it is.

Re: The Ford F150 Diesel. It will be interesting to se what happens with that. Last i heard Navistar is sueing Ford for breach of contract over the 4.4l engine. Navistar claims they designed the engine for Ford and should be producing it themselves.
Navistar claims The 4.4 was derived from the European Lion V8. Which is produced in Engalnd by Ford under license from Navistar. What a Mess.

While I think a Cat in a light duty app would be cool, it will not happen anytime soon. Cat has some real problems on emissions and with 2010 coming they will have even more because they also have emissions on heavy equipment to meet as well.

And Cat only burned 2 New Petes to the ground at testing in Texas last year:whistle:

Dad is a tech for Old dominion and they have had 5 burn down and several with turbo problems on their 07 Freightliners. That is just at the terminal he works at.

Cummins is developing a new V8 for the dodges in the next few years

Ford is also developing a new engine that is there own to replace the international engines becasue of all the problems they have had with the new engines.

As for Cat it looks like they may make a deal with Toyota, so Toyota can develop a 1 ton truck for the US market

continental tank v10 diesel in k10/k5.....has it been done, is there room? motor didn't look to big, what kind of trans is in a tank?

The M1A1/2 have Allisons. But then they also have General Electric gas turbine motors.

Any v-10 diesel in a light truck is a rediculous idea. :eek1:
