i searched and all the pics i found were of the passenger side. i want to see pics of how they work on the driverside with the steering shaft (if you have pics of both that works too :D ). thanks guys

I found this pic, best one I could find.
Here's the link to the install: http://coloradok5.com/ranchoreview.shtml

so i guess there is really no way to get more straight up and down?

If you want more vertical, you will need to modify the steering as the push pull arm will hit the shock.

70jimmy has his mounted pretty much vertical and he had to notch for the steering shaft.

Here are some pics:

Plan B?

Universal Shock Tower Kit
Complete the custom look on the front of your rig with Blue Torch Fab's universal round tube shock towers. They are a weld on item only. For some applications the customer may be required to shorten the towers. The tube shock towers were designed around a RS9012 shock to give maximum wheel travel. They can be used on most any vehicle. The kit comes complete with shock, towers, axle tabs for the lower shock mounts, tabs for the upper shock mounts on the towers, tower brace, and bolts.

The shock towers are made from 1.25" od x .120 wall round tubing. The tower braces are made from 1.00" od x .120 wall round tube.

Well I started out with my towers kicked back like everyone else, and it was fine. Then I had to move it when I put in the D60 with the behind the axle tie rod. I moved them sticking straight up directly above the axle. It rubs the steering shaft on the drivers side, but it doesn't bind, so no worries.

im going o have to do something similar because my tie-rod is going to be in the same place as yours.

You know on Dad's (fred2mihi) K5 he has the typical angled back setup with the newer style Ford towers. He has problems when the tire is compressed into the fender well it will rub the top of the shocks if it's turned. He's going to adjust his bump stops to help with the problem.

So how much lift do you have and what size shocks are you using? You may not need yours to go quite as high as 70jimmy's. My towers are cut down a bit, took the angled part off them. That brings them a little closer to the steering shaft than they would be if you had them angled out like he does and ran them through the fender well. I've got the edelbrock 12.5" travel shocks and 7" of lift though, so I couldn't mount it that high. I'll see if I can find a pic if you want.

im aiming for around 7" lift via lifted 52's up front and 14.5" travel shocks

So if you're gonna use the same tie rod setup as me, you're gonna have to move the shock mounts top and bottom. I couldn't use the stock shock mounting tabs on the axle, cause they were too far back too. I welded some new tabs on top of the axle. If you do the same, you'll need to have your tower about an inch higher than mine.

do you have pics of your setup? thanks

Well, I've been browsing through my multitudes of photos, and those towers seem to have eluded the camera. I'll see if I can capture them here in the next couple of days.

I think I PM'd these pics to you a while back, but I'll post them in case someone else needs it:

I made the brackets, but they are very similar to Ford shock towers. The top mounting point for the shocks is 6" IIRC, which gives me 1" clearance on the steering shaft at droop.

scott do you have any more pics showing your custom shock towers, like a close up or from the engine compartment?
thanks
