Ok, my dad has this 94 bronco that he just put new tires on (31" BFG's).
Well tire guys say it needs ball joints, and they want $900.

Are the TTB ball joints just like the ones on our trucks, and are there any special tools I need like that ball joint socket? Ive never had a ford torn apart before, and this thing still has the crappy auto hubs on it if it matters at all.

Thanks

It probably has a TTB44 which is similar to a regular Dana 44 or 10 bolt. They are pretty easy to change. Put on some nice Warn Premium hubs while you have it taken apart.

Do I need the special socket to torqque the upper ball joint to set preload like with our trucks?

and is the Harbor freight Ball joint press any good?

Can't help ya at all with the ttb junk.

I do have the harbor freight ujoint/balljoint/Tre clamp (looks like a giant c-clamp. It actually works very well and is sturdy to boot. It is identical to the one my boss bought from an American company a couple decades ago for a lot more money. For the fork-clamp seperators, I just bought mine at NAPA. Ya, the HF ones are half as much, but they're only like $25 at NAPA. Same with pickle forks.

However, HF in my area has a fantastic lifetime return policy. So if it looks like it will get the job done once even if I break it, I can always take it back. I like American tools, but college doesn't always allow me to afford what I need to maintain my rigs.
