Found an awesome antique HE advertisement poster today

That is exactly the swing out I have. The spare tire and GI can carrier w/ locking lug nut. I am going to remove it, have it blasted and powder coated. I was going to have it modified but after seeing this... I may just have to leave it alone.

I may put it up for sale if I can find any indication of it being Hickey. I think I even have all the nuts and bolts for it. I need to check if the hitch is Hickey as well. :woot:

Does your Blazer have more stuff on it that appears aftermarket?

Hickey made quite a bunch of stuff as shown on the poster.

And yes, I agree, don't modify that piece of history. Leave it alone. :waytogo:

Unfortunately I do not know much about Blazers. I was not sure if it was even after market of a factory option. Someone told me that the Quartz Clock is rare.. but I've seen it on other rigs. The Blazer has a trailer brake installed but nothing else seems out of the ordinary. The only 2 things that would stick out would be the Swing out and the Hitch. Pretty cool. Again once I have them blasted and powder coated I will most likely put'em up for sale on Ebay or something.. I need to make some money so I can purchase a lift and a 14bolt.

Take it to PM's, I'm interested in that stuff.

We can't discuss a price here in the Garage. Gotta be in the sale forums or PM's.

If you're wanting to sell your stuff, PM me and we'll deal.

Thats what I was trying to get across to you. :waytogo:

lol... oh my bad. I will do that when the time comes.

As for Hickey items. I am always intrigued to learn about nostalgic accessories. I have yet to find anyone that can tell me how the spare is exactly mounted.

I can't remember exactly how the tire was mounted because its been a while since I removed the carrier from the K5.

There should be bracket/pads mounted inside of the body. Strong enough to hold a 31 on under regular use but not much else.

That is good to know. Because I am currently running 33s with a 31" spare. I was planning on buying a fs spare... but after reading this I am thinking about removing the item and placing the spare on the inside.. which I really did not want. I am going have to begin to look at options.

I have the spare mount that goes inside the cab back by the tailgate in my '91 K5.

I'll trade it for your Hickey one. I have everything there for the mount.
