i found a truck for sale. 2.5 ton dump 4x4. has rockwell axles under it. 6.8 ratio on tag and open knuckles. frt is big 6 bolt as in pic and rear is the old wedge style like all big trucks. are these worth any thing to use or pass on them.

I think you'd be better off buying the truck for the truck, not just to get the axles.
It's up to you. If you want 'em, take 'em. They don't have as much ground clearance or the driveline angle benefits of the toploaders but from what I've heard are every bit as tough, and they're huge in the pulling crowd.
Take a look on Pirate at Evolution's "Twisted" buggy. It's using those axles.
