If 4wd is not working but your front driveshaft is turning then your hubs are unlocked or broken.:thumb:

Quick question. I just put my first set on today, and the drivers side went on without a hitch, but when i was taking my passenger side off, i couldnt get the spacer out, its that last piece that goes in there. So i just left it in there and put on my new one. It fits and engages, im not hearing any grinding or anything. Do you think this is gonna be a problem in the future at all? Any recomendations?

Did have an instance were someone took the front gears out of the pumpkin. But probably just the hubs

The part that the 6 screws thread into? You removed any and all snap rings that are in place to retain it, right? If so, I've had one get stuck in the hub before too. I threaded in 2 of the screws at opposite positions (lets say 3 and 9) and used them as a handle to wiggle it out. It wasn't moving at first so I used some small vice grips and clamped them to a screw, on the shank of the screw but right against the screw head. Then used a small hammer to tap on the vice grips effectively moving the stuck hub part (I can't think of its proper name) enough where I could just remove it by hand. That's one way to try removing it. No hard hammering or you could risk breaking the screw off.

Otherwise, leaving the old one in, as long as it mates properly with the new hub could be fine for years. Eventually you'll have to remove it for bearing maintenance or brake replacement though.

Thanks. I will look into replacing the hubs. Currently they are the auto locking are those worth replacing or would just manual locking be better and more durable?

Yeah i got all that stuff out. Its like a spacer ring all the way in the back. Im not worrying about it though, bc it still locks and disengages when i need it too on that side.
