These look so effing sweet..... Good use of the waste of space that is the inside of the shaft generally....

$700 a pair, but for a new product I dont think thats too crazy. You would pay more than that for 2.5" standard bumps, but I think these have way more to be gained over a standard 2.5.
The external adjust-ability is nothing new, King and Profender have had that going for a while, but the internals of these look bitchin.

Those are pretty cool, assuming the hollow shaft holds up over time. I like how they seperated the nitrogen from the oil like on a rezi shock so it doesn't fade near as easy.

Have you ever taken your 2.5 bumps apart Heath? The 2.0s I have are already a hollow shaft. I assume all the others are as well. So a waste of space imo. So I don't see a strength issue here.

I took my cheap 2.5" FOAs apart to fix the leak they are born with, I don't remember their being a hollow shaft, but I could be wrong. But it doesn't suprise me that FOX makes a lighter unit that works better than my Failed On Arrival junk. I've taken apart the FOX air shocks on my mountain bike and the quality and engineering for weight is definitely there, not so much on the FOAs that have machining burrs and shoddy finishes everywhere inside.

But you can get triple bypasses for like 400 bucks..lol
 
They probably have triple the leaks too then, bonus!

I was also told some of there "components" are machined "offshore" by one of the employees there, and yet here we are years later and it still says it is all Made in the USA on their website. I have 4 of their shocks and 4 of their air bumps and not one of them worked correctly as it arrived, every single one required rebuild by me while removing machining burrs and replacing seals before I could run it. So I don't see how they stay in business. I also don't know why I ordered more stuff a year after the first batch, you think I would of learned the first time.

Witht that said, once I did all that they have been working fine, except for one still leaks, and the spring sliders bind on the course threads, so I guess they aren't working fine. I suppose the back shocks are working fine, no leaks, and no sliders after I rebuilt everything myself. Probably the rough finish was too much for me to repair in my garage with new seals and fine emery cloth on the one front shock.

And all the bad press on pirate... A guy wrote a funny for sale add on them a month or two ago. I'll see if I can find it.

To be honest though unless you are really planning on launching your rig all the time... Some $170 a piece 2.0 air bumps like I have would work just fine.

That's what's on wades rig and you can see they work.... I think these just make the ride a little bit more comfy.
 
Honestly I don't need them and they are a ways off. Someday. No jumping for me. I most likely will go the cheaper route when I get that far.

Cheapest pricing I have found by a good amount actually.

That's not including cans. Those are about $30 each.
 
You can get pro gender bumps. That's what Nate out in Oprah.

But after seeing some of the quality issues with the cans and such, I don't think the $100 or so in savings is worth buying a part from Thailand when you could buy American made for a little more and have super nice quality.

I may be biased, I love fox products :D
 
I am just going to run the Tahoe bumpstops at all four corners for now. Damn truck don't even run yet anyway:doah:

Yah there's only a handful of rigs in this website that I think need air bumps at all.


They really are not necessary if you aren't going to use them.

They are actually really annoying on small bumps as they clunk like crazy lol. You only don't hear them clunk unless you are really smashing them.

I agree. My thought is to test it out first. You might be surprised but my rig will be more of a high speed fire road bashing rig then a slow speed rock crawler. Like I said its a ways off. And I might not need them :dunno:

Air bumps will be annoying and clunky on anything that would be considered a "washboard" road. They will clunk all the time.

You gotta be hitting stuff that actually bottoms them or uses a good amount of travel to make them worth it I think.

You would be happy with some good progressive rubber bumps. Like timbrens or the Tahoe bumps. And be way less time and money into bumps and mounting.
