i have a nice frame from 88 k5, no rust/pits,only rear body mount has some deep pits on top would need a peice of plate welded on top. Is there a need for these or should i just scrap it?

I wouldn't say there's NO demand, but probably not much in the actual Blazer community. Most of our trucks rust away before the frames.
However, a lot of people build weird stuff on Blazer frames. If you've ever seen one of those jacked up car/4WD creations, they're often on a blazer/truck frame.

There is a demand for them up here and in other rust belt states --maybe not an overwhelming demand,but I've seen ads on craigslist looking for "rust free" frames and we had people come in the junkyard looking for them too--or at least peices of one they could scab onto their rotted ones where they failed..
Finding a GOOD frame is not impossible, but it is DAMN hard. And when someone has one, it's usually buried under a truck, which means a lot more work.
If you can hang onto it, just keep popping it onto craigslist. I had to buy *3* frames before I got hold of a straight one. And it took me awhile to find 3 of them in the first place. It's definitely a niche market, but for the person that needs one, there is no substitute.
I'd say $100 is about what one is worth, if you don't have to disassemble a truck to get it.

I'm local, if you're going to just scrap it I'd take it for scrap value. Won't get a whole lot for it, and you'll have to cut it into 4' sections for them to take it usually. Better off throwing it on craigslist than scrapping.

I have not seen any wanted ads or for sale ads so just wasn't sure, frame still has a few odds and ends on it, soon as I finish assembling my blazer ill figure out what to do with it

...all you'll need is axles,tranny,t-case and engine,and a body!..
I had a '73 K10 long bed chassis sitting in my woods a long time,I decided to cut it up about 5 years ago--now I regret doing so,I only got about 50 bucks in scrap (cost me 20 for O2 to cut it up too),and now I might be needing some of its peices to repair my k2500's frame should I keep it much longer..you rarely see a frame that vintage in boneyards that aren't rotted junk..one I had was pretty nice..truck it came from was never legally registered,guy drove it only 40K with a farm plate and most of its life was spent at a concrete plant's acerage..

if you were closer to MD I would take it, the rear of my frame is disappearing...
