Frankenliner build thread. Up for sale.

Don't powder coat the rims. Plasti coat them then clear over top. You don't even have to pull them off the truck. Just mask very carefully. That'll look deadly. It's what I'll be doing to my alcoas.

Pretty much exactly. And if you want matte finish leave it as is, if you want gloss finish cover with spray can clear coat.

I wonder how many cans it would take, to do 6 wheels?

I have everything but black paint to just spray them. And I get that at body shop jobber prices.

Would it look funny if the tanks were polished? Or should they be black also?

Truck looks good! :waytogo:

I like the polished look my self on wheels and the tanks...but black would look cool too. :thumb:

A lot of work to polish all that! :doah:

Tanks painted with the chrome tank mount straps would be COOOOL! :pimp: :pimp: :pimp:

I plasti-dipped my brother in law's wheels with the kit from dipyourcar.com. I was really impressed with how they turned out. I would say that 10-12 cans of that stuff would be more than enough to cover the rims. Black rims with chrome lug nut covers and center caps would look killer on that truck!!!

The beauty of that is of you want to go back to polished at some point. You just peel the stuff off. No stripping or Sand blasting stupid paint after the fact. And having to deal with the mess is makes of the aluminum.

Things are changing again.

Since we will not be traveling a lot, the 5th wheel is going away. So the semi is getting somework done.

I am in the process of cutting everything off of the top. Mounting a 8.5' Lance camper on the back and adding a couple of feet in length. The Jimmy will sit behinf the camper. I just hope the 6500 pound truck is not too much of a counter balance.

I think I have cut 4k pounds off so far. Every thing has been 1/4 wall or thicker. The top rack will come off at work with a fork lift.

I actually thought you would have sold the semi and picked up a 1ton. Can't wait to see the progress and what you do.

I will not ever tow with a pickup again. With this set up, I will not be pulling a trailer to go wheeling. When I take the boat somewhere, I will have the Jimmy or the Blazer to launch it or run around in.

And it's just so different. Can you say red neck?

That makes sense, I don't blame you. How much did you feel with the 5th wheel and both vehicles?
