Frankenliner build thread. Up for sale.

Yep. It ran great. Pulled all of the hills at 65mph. That's all I run it at to save fuel. Was fu ny to have rigs pass me on the flats, then blow by them on the hills. Filled it up herein Havasu, 7.12 mpg. That with heavy winds the entire way. Should get better with decent wind.

That's awful mileage.
I get better than that loaded heavy.
How heavy do you think you're at now?
@50000 lbs I get 7.5 mpg
@35000 lbs I get 8 mpg
That's@ 65mph

Old school injection and the tires are too tall for the gearing. This is the best I have had yet. So I am OK with it.

Awful is a strong word for over 7 mpg.

Martin

Well awfull if compared to 13mpg when I bobtail. But then again he had the blazer and the camper which weigh less than my empty trailer.
If I have his setup on my truck I would pull 10mpg.
Now considering that if he had a Cummins equipped 1ton truck he would be getting the same mileage he is better off this way.

it sucks getting old

Due to arthritis in my shoulders, it really hurt to lift the ramps above my shoulders to set them on the semi. So I built stands with pins for locks. No more cables.

They look like they would be in the way, but they are not on the truck when the Jimmy is being loaded.

The Frankenliner died yesterday. Just quit with zero warning. Tach, speedo and oil presure gauges quit working. Fuel and temp worked.:dunno: 3 miles from home. Messed with some stuff no luck getting it running. Checked the normal fuses, no luck. Had it towed home. I was cold and not thinking after a long horrible day.

Messed with it today. For a little bit. Checked the fuses again. The first fuse I pulled today was blown. ECM fuse. I checked the wrong one last night.

That fuse cost me $130:doah:. But it is fixed.

No idea. I did not let it fully warm up like normal and I was only 2 miles into the trip home. I am wondering if it was trying to compensate for a cold issue. Part of the issue, I hope, may be the 10 amp fuse in the 20 amp slot. It has been that way from purchase. 10k on it under my ownership.

Tow rig looks AWESOME Wade. I want one lol. No really I do. :waytogo:

I will be building another soon. A friend bought a 5th wheel and wants to be able to haul the jeep and tow the 5th wheel.

I came in here to do a quick update and realized I have been away for a long time.

The dying issue was the ECM died. Was a nightmare getting the right one and programmed correctly. Had to have the local Cat tractor shop do it. Freightliner was useless.

Been driving it. Had to not got to the chilly challenge in New Mexico because it would have put me over 10k miles in the year.

The big news is......I got the windows tinted today. This thing was like a convection oven with all of the glass. Guy came to my house. Did 2 door windows, 2 1/4 windows, 2 back windows, 2 wind wing windows and a 4" stop at the top of the windshield. $200.

Minor prepping for KOH this week.
