Frankenliner build thread. Up for sale.

Hey man,
I am in the process of deciding if I do my old rig into a personal tow rig / rv.
Do you have a limit on mileage in Colorado?
I need to check in California.

No limit per the state. My insurance I have limited to 10k a year to keep costs down. Almost went over last year. Dune fest in Michigan. Rubicon and Fordyce. Blazer Bash and a number of misc. weekend trips put me at 9400 miles.

I just asked a friend in CA who runs a semi as an RV. No limit. Just don't get paid to drive it at any time. The full size fifth wheel has to come off.

Oh fifth wheel and extra axle will come off.
Can you get me his contact info.
I want to see what options I have and cost.

He is in the Bahamas fishing. He called right then to have me check his mom's house here. He will be back in contact in 2 weeks. Must be nice.

Do they ding you for wheel size too? There's a guy here with an almost identical setup and if I heard him right he has a higher premium because of the 22.5s.

No on the wheel size here. Colorado does not make you remove the fifth wheel, it was the insurance. The Frankenliner is registered in SD now. Same rules as Co.

@imiceman44 I talked to his wife. They have it registered in AZ. He has a house in Lake Havasu with an AZ ID card. Claims it is stored there. He has a picture of it in his motorhome garage if he gets hassled. Never has been though.

So he is no help on the fine points of CA law.

Thanks for checking.

We have a customer that tells his insurance company his boat is stored with us. My boss was not aware of this and told them it wasn't when they called to verify this. Oops!

If you're honest, you can stop talking whenever you want. When you have a lie going you don't have that option.

I forgot to add, headlights, front marker/turn and side marker/turn have all been switched to LED.

Also spent 2 hours hunting down a propane leak in the camper. Copper bell fitting wasn't finger tight.
