I've tried everything I can think of, yet I can't get this new seal installed.

Seems to get started, then pop,,,,

Any tips????

as long as your shure you have the right seal put the seal in the freezer and put a work lamp on the pinion for 15-30 min.

if the pinion is still in the case use a scrap 2x4 and get it started at 3 and 9 O clock positions then move to 12 and 6 till its not going to come out then work your way around to finish seating the seal.

if the pinion is not in the case then use a seal driver, large socket or flat 2x4 if the seal does not protrude above the flange ends.

Thanks,,
I thought about the freezer, but it's about 8 degrees outside now,,
I've tried an old throw-out bearing as a driver, and a 2x4 with a 2" hole drilled in it.

I'm now going to check the seal closer. It's a napa and it has a gasket type ring around middle of the seal,,I've never seen one with this before,,
sk-19277.

This was the most expensive seal I've ever bought,,$28.49....

Well, that's the right seal. I'd say just keep at it. Try the heating the housing/freezing the seal part. Once it gets started, it's easy peasy.
