So, the guy I bought my Jimmy from recently bought a 89-91 suburban, and he wanted to switch bumpers. My Jimmy came with an I-Beam for a bumper, so I was cool with it, however the damn thing would not come off. I'm sure what we got all the bolts out, but he said the bumper to frame brackets slanted inwards and weren't allowing the bumper to slide out. By this time, it was dark and I wanted to get home, so I didn't crawl under there to see what he was talking about.

I feel like the bumper should just slide right out though. Do I have to unbolt those outer brackets to get the bumper out, or should it just all slide out once all the bolts in the frame are all taken out?

If you are referring to the outer braces, yes they have to get unbolted. Take them off from the truck frame to keep with the factory bumper.

I have them unbolted from the frame, but the guy said that it was blocked from sliding out. Do I have to remove them from the bumper aswell, or just the frame?

I honestly don't remember if they would hang up. It's possible, I haven't had a stock bumper on mone for years.
