Now I know this can be done very easy,but my question is on the bumper. Obviously an 83-91 is not going to mount correctly on a 74. I know this because the fool I got the truck from put an 82 bumper on there and it looked like the truck had an under bite. 
Is my only option to custom make mounting brackets to mount the newer stock bumper on the older frame? I realize an aftermarket or home built bumper is an option as well.
This is not for the cherry 75 in my avatar but the 74 I got along with it. Gave the 74 to my nephew (after I robbed all the usable stuff),
So it will be up to him if he wants to go stock. It is a rolling rust bucket! I have found an 87 front clip that is just a make offer so this is why I ask about the bumper options. What should I offer the guy
