I had this problem on my last truck but I am not happy with the fix i did. Any ideas on how to gain some more clearance? Sitting in the garage the shaft hits the exhaust and I cannot bolt it in place. I would like to shorten the down pipe and keep the pipe going above the shaft for clearance but it does not seem to be much room.

I am running a 90 K5 with 6 in springs up front and a zero. Stock exhaust to keep the smog police from tracking me down. Eventually I will do dual exhaust and this problem will go away but what about a fix until then. Thanks

The factory Y pipe goes under the front driveshaft. I had my local muffler shop build me a new Y pipe and went over the top of the driveshaft. There is plenty of room to do this.

Mine looked there was not much room. I will check that tonight when I get home. I may just cut the "Y" out move it up and fill the gap with a scrap piece. Thanks, hopefully there is enough room.

I cut the bend out and replaced it with a longer bend from Autozone. Cost less than $10, took 20 mins total and gives me over an inch of clearance.
