Front driveshaft u-joint, internal snap rings or external??

I noticed my front driveshaft, front u-joint is a gonner and it doesnt look like there are external snap rings that attach it to the driveshaft, I am thinking they got busted out and that is why the u-joint is loose, the new u-joint came with the external snap rings so I think they are external unless I got the wrong one, can someone tell me if the snap rings go on the out side or inside?? BTW this is for a 85 with a np208.

the one at the pinion is external snap rings, you should be able to see the groves for the clips once you get the cap out.

yup, thanks I finally got the u-joint out of there, the last snap ring fits very tight to where the u-joint doesnt move as good as it would if it was loose, I think the yoke is bent a little, is it ok to run it like this??

that seems to be normall, every ujoint i have put in is like this.
