Sounds like that may not be the factory driveshaft. I do believe all the 203 cases had the CV joint (double joint) on one end, and a single joint at the axle

Yeah that’s what I’ve been finding out should I get one of those ones are just shorten this one I can take a picture of the driveshaft when I get home and the yoke on the 203

I’ve shortened driveshafts for 205s. Maybe some of the 203 knowledgeable can answer more questions. @Capt Ron @onetonbb74

Post a pic of your front output.

If both ends of your front shaft bolt on, just get your driveshaft shortened a few inches, local shop does this fairly cheap.

That's the early style 203 output yoke, do you have the old u-bolts and nuts?

That setup will work just fine, I'd just shorten the shaft you have to fit and slam new u-joints in there and call it good.

The driveshaft shop should tell you how to measure the shaft length and then can determine how much needs to be shortened.

If I remember correctly stock is 4 bolts that come in from the back side not u bolts with nuts. They're a bit of a hassle also. I might have all of the parts at home. I can post up picks later.

Ok thanks everyone I didn’t know which route to go if I should just shorten this one or go more with a stock one

I do not seem to have an older 203 style on hand.
If this is a rig you plan on keeping for a while and if any serious wheeling is gonna be involved I would convert to a flange style output https://www.offroaddesign.com/1350-...lot-for-oe-type-saginaw-3r-cv-driveshaft.html
They are way more user friendly if you are trying to change/repair on the trail and if you are not carrying a spare chances are someone you might be wheeling with would have this style as opposed to the older style.

The older style is not readily available as it once was.
They have become pricey due this.
The flange style for the 203 started around 77.
Possible some on the forum might have one laying around after a 205 swap if you want stock config.

Yes, even if its the wrong length as long as the 3r cv is there you can have a new one made from the parts.
