Hey guys, yeah disc conversion would be easier, but I just did a front end rebuild and dont wanna revisit that party any time soon. My front drums are toast (1970 Jimmy). I am just trying to compile the list of parts so I dont have an o sheet moment.

Drums
Shoes
Spring Kit
Hoses
cylinders
Do I need an adjusting assembly - the one I have is shot

anything else?!

gonna get the raybestos pro grade junk from rockauto unless there are any other ideas

This beast sat for 3 years and everything up front is frozen, cant even budge the bleeders and the pads are cracking at the rivets and drums are pretty nasty, figure its just easier to redo it all.

Thanks for the help!

unless you're going for show original, most people around here would tell you to swap over. works better in my opinion, easier to service, and it's probably cheaper than buying new drums, shoes, and hardware. but other than that i think you have the bases covered.

the disc setup is 50x more efficient, safe, etc... it'd be foolish to throw that kinda coin at a drum setup... I'm not familiar with the swap, but I'm betting it can be done for nearly the same coin.. and I'd bet the farm it wont be any more difficult than rebuilding an ancient drum setup...

it's the first mod we always did on early 70's muscle cars, ditch the drums for disc.... front drums are pathetic, ESPECIALLY in a heavy rig...
