front end narrowed and tilting and added some stripes

OK, I'll try to answer as many questions as I can here.

No bracing as of yet. I'll wait to see what is required. Got pins in the rear installed today but I need to put in some zuse(sp) fasteners to help line up the fenders where they close and I think that will stiffen things up a little.

Cooling would be a major issue if I hadn't already decided to move the rad to the rear. Eventually there will be a nice aluminum radiator and big trans cooler residing out back plumbed in 90 percent of the way with aluminum tubing to help cool. I still will have some vents in the grill to pull cool air into the engine bay. I have considered mounting a single electric fan to either exhaust out some hot air or pull in some cool air. Probably on a manual switch when in the slow crawl mode.

here is a pic with the hood up. One of the earlier pics before some slight modifications were made. I had first envisioned pins in the hinges but bolts worked out better as they allowed me to adjust the hood left and right in the front.

wow that is awsome looking /forums/images/graemlins/bow.gif /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

That looks good. It really turned out well. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Some amount of air will flow through. No inner fenders will help as well.

will you guys stop with all this narrowing nonsense! my bed floor is trashed, but the rest of it is decent. narrowing the bed would require cutting up the floor, no big deal, and maybe bending up some decent but not good bedsides. fenders and core support are also "ok" but not good. so where did i put that extra money i had stashed away? it was being saved for a rainy day, and its awful cloudy outside. DADDY NEEDS A WELDER!

welded solid. That made it easy to do a little filling and not worry about moisture on the backside.

Front axle is forward about 4.5" or somewhere around there. Did that a while back so I don't remember exactly. What I did was take the left spring mount and body mount assembly and put it on the right frame rail and vise versa. Effectively the same as what some other guys are doing by moving just the spring mount bracket in front of the body mount.

Oh ok.. that sounds cool, never heard of flip floping the left with the right, sounds good thou. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

[/ QUOTE ] You lost me here. I am trying to visualize what you did. Maybe I need to go out and look at my rig to understand. But, aren't the two pieces the same? If you flip flop them how does it move the spring forward? Do you have a pic I could see? /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

The three peices in red are still riveted together like they were from the factory, I just removed the rivets from the frame and flipped them driverside to pass side. Basically the same as what everyone else is doing to use 52's on the front I just thought it might be easier this way. I still had to build the frame out infront of the hanger.

i still have the inner fender off to help.

remember, only air that travels through the radiator core cools /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif can we see some pics that are close up of the fab work, bracketry etc..? thats what i wanna see, i need ideas for the front as im still on the rear.

My radiator won't be in the front though. I have some finalizing to do yet before I show to many more pics.

Nice!

I like how its all smooth.

Extra points for the tilt front. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

when you do the narrowing or tapering as some are calling it, the nose gets shorter all by itself exposing more frame. All that geometry.

Sandman, thanks for the compliments. It was your rig that got me to thinking and then I saw bowties rig and decided I wanted to do it.

I've dumped somewhere around 450 lbs. of dead weight already. More to come off yet. Not everyone will experience these numbers. I had alot of stuff on my rig that went in the process that others have already ditched. That rolling glass tailgate has got to be all of 175lbs. or I'm getting older. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

An early estimation of total weight loss, I'd say 650 lbs.
