Front Hub Troubles...

i got a pair of 6 lug hubs here you can have as well as a set of spindles im sure. theyre in san antonio though. worst comes to worst you know.

There is actually a guy located in Sherman,TX (up near Oklahoma on I75) that just posted an add on www.texas4x4.org earlier tonight that went to 1-tons on his '87 1/2 ton suburban and is selling both front and rear 10-bolts for $100.

the front 10-bolt has a broken u-joint on the driver side, but is complete

I'm actually in Sherman right now for the weekend. I come up here every couple weekends to see family. If you want the axle I might be able to run and grab it with my stepdads pickup and store it by their barn until we could figure out a way to get it to you.

He'd probably take $30-50 for the front by itself and you could rob it for parts as time goes on,if you need to.

Thing is, I live near Dallas but The 'Burb is my only transportation (FSJ Cherokee is in storage) so getting it down in closer range for you might be an issue

I checked the thread for those axles in Sherman, turns out the gears are 3.08's, so i'd have to swap them both in or regear somewhere since mine are 3.73's, so i don't think i'll go that route...regardless, you are awesome for making such an offer G, I appreciate it:bow:

obijuan if you think the shipping won't kill the deal(i'd pay $180 plus shipping for a new hub anyways:eek1:) then let me know what you want for them

oh and did I forget to mention how awesome CK5 is? best $25 bucks I've spent on the truck so far:D

I have a 10-bolt front with 3.73's from my '89 sitting in the yard... shipping would be horrible though.:o

That sounds like work training the bastards, I'll just dangle an extra carrot out there.:haha:

So... you fix the hub problem yet?:D

Found a complete dana 44 front down in NW houston on CL, here's the link: http://houston.craigslist.org/pts/1158052221.html

Don't need the pitman arm, but i don't mind the warn premiums or the extra steering stabilizer(if it works haha):D

my cousin has his diesel so I may pay his fuel and we'll go pick it up saturday, still have to run it by the parentals though...

Edit: oh and G-Force, this is one of those "open mouth, insert foot" kinda moments, looks like i may go the complete axle route after all. Good call:waytogo:

Bring a strong friend or be sure you have a picker with you as even the D44s are focking heavy. BP71k5 and I barely got his in the back of my 2wd f25o. I almost blew my ass out straining so hard and I'm a pretty big guy.

Yep thats a common mistake thats shared by alot of web wheels. Not everything on a d44 and 10b outer is the same as you found out the very hard way. The inner bearings come in 2 or 3 different sizes. I found this out when I swapped my d44 in and put my 10b outers on it.

Hey, as long as you get 'er fixed and rollin' its all good:woot:

well i may have spoken too soon...my dad doesn't want me "galavanting" off down to houston not knowing who we're dealing with, or for sure where we're going, so I will probably have to try and piece something together:mad:...may have to take obijuan up on his offer. bleh, i just want my truck back haha

Can't blame your dad for looking out for you. There are alot of loonies out there. Obijuan's deal sounds good.

Hey man I might be trading a transfer case for a set of wheels and a complete 6-lug GM Dana44 (haven't verified the year model yet,but assume its '73-76)

I want to keep the flattop knuckles for crossover on my Jeep and keep the axleshafts as spares for the D44 I'm swapping under my Suburban, possibly the spindles.

If you still need a hub(s) and the trade goes through then you can have it/them for the cost of shipping....unless you can have somebody pick them up from me, then they're free

I'll let you know

I"m going to drive down to look the axle over sometime soon. Possibly this Saturday if the guy isn't busy

he said the diff cover has been off for a while and there is rust in the differential are. The rotors are rusted, but the inners should be fine

I'll know in a few days
