Has anybody tried to put a posi from a 93-ish style Caprice 8.5 10 bolt posi carrier in a 10 bolt front? I just picked up an 84 with the stock axle, buddy has 2 of these posi's and can't use them. From the checking I've done and can't see why it won't fit. The carrier bearings are the same, and the ring gear/pinion are the same as well. Only thing I would have to do is swap to 30 spline inners...

No it's not the gov bomb, I'll stay open before I put one of those POS's in. I'm not sure what they are, Auburn, Eaton or what, but they are factory clutch style posi's. Wheeling in my area is mostly mud, anything else don't even need to use 4wd. I can get it dirt cheap, and get the axles and installed for next to nothing. Just don't want to get it if I can't use it....

If it fits in, it will work. I have swapped rear Gov Bombs to the front of other trucks with success. Even a clutch type POS posi makes a huge difference in the front.
