How much fuel in your wheeling rig?
Is it strictly off road or dual purpose?
Rig specs?
Do you wish you had more?
How long can you wheel on said gallons of gas/diesel?

10 gal.
off road only
350 tbi 700r4 241c 37inch maxxis creepy's.
not really
I have yet to run out, and I have run all the trails in moab.

My wife's moose buggy holds 80 gallons and we carry another 60-75 gallons in 15 gallon jugs when we go hunting and we stay out for 3+ weeks.

Stock 16gal saddle tank (shortbed)
Dual Purpose, mostly road
305HO,465,208,fully locked, 4.10s, 35"
Yes, I don't like to push more than 130 miles between fill ups and thats too often
I can wheel all day on a full tank and drive home, but will have to fill up before going anywhere else.

86 K15 305/400/208/4.10's/38's
33gal Isuzu diesel tank mounted in the bed(it was free)
mostly offroad/weekend toy
haven't used with new tank but with old 16gal side saddle tank it would last a day which included driving to the trail and almost running out on the way out.

Well, I think I'll try 30 gallons. Thanks guys.

Whoa. How much does it cost you to fill all that up? I assume gas is a lot cheaper in Alaska!

Sounds like a decent starting place.

And whoever said filling up every 150 miles, thats nuts.

Ive definitely driven 600+ w/o stopping, regularly drive 2-300 w/o stopping. Would HATE to fill up every 150.

Burned 40 gal going about 150 miles once.....i was a little loaded down :eek1:

Really, unless weight is a concern, i say error waaay on tee safe side. And on your Dually crew cab beast, whats a few more hundred pounds?

How much fuel in your wheeling rig? 15 gal
Is it strictly off road or dual purpose? dual purpose
Rig specs? 80 K10 w/ 454/4spd/205/5.13's/44's
Do you wish you had more? not really, maybe 20 gal but no more
How long can you wheel on said gallons of gas/diesel? most of the day

My K5 is still under construction so the above info is from my old wheeler.

Doing a little r&d for fuel cells??? :ears:

Failed to mention mine is 100% street use, tow/travel rig. So obviously i burn a lot of fuel in a day.

I can hold 31 gallons
dual purpose rig
tbi 350/700/4:1/5.38's/42tsls
i wish I had even more fuel
15-20 gallons a day on a wheeling trip. Although I go wheeling at least an hour away and drive to and from.

Stock 31 gallon tank
Offroad only for now, would like to take it on the street one day
see sig
No, Im happy with the amount, just wish it didnt hang down so low
Ive wheeled the whole weekend and still had at least a 1/2 tank

I do stock 31 gallon tank, mostly off road never run out, but if I am in the dunes or mud all day I will get down quite a bit, I need to fill up before I go home if I am in mud or dunes

I can't build fuel cells or tanks. I can make you a water tank though.;)

Niiiiice... I'll have to save up some $$ for an aux water tank that fits under the rear of my K5. You know, in case I need to wash my hands on the trail. :D

Dual 16 gallon saddle tanks
Dual purpose, more street then dirt for now
82 k10, 60/14, 4:56s, 700r4, 208, modded 6.5td, 35/12.5R17
yes I wish it held more
Truck averages about 15 mpg, haven't gone on a wheeling trip with it yet.

Figure this is a good time to ask, are there any laws or requirements to building your own fuel tank? I'm a welder by trader so I'm not worried about that. I plan to inboard my fuel tanks one day and I was planning to just build my own. But I'm not sure of regulations or anything concerning it.

don't think i need more
drive there, wheel 6-8 hrs. drive home. still drive it to work the next day to check it out. still have 5 gallons left.
