What would I need to run a fuel cell in my TBI 350 1990 K5? I am going to order a fuel cell, and want to know what mods need to be done. I don't really care about the gauge working. I am more worried about the in-tank pump.

You prolly need to start by cleaning out the back of your rig. :haha:

I am using a frame pump and have been for several years, no issues. There is a company that sells in-tank w/ gauge pumps for fuel cells, but I'll be damned if I can remember who.

Other than that it is all basic swap out. A new fuel cell should have a port for vent, fuel to the pump and a return.

So I do need an external pump?

You can use the internal if you find it. Or like me, you can use the frame mounted to run the TBI. I chose not to use the internal because the cost. At the time I knew who made one.

Up here we have some issues with vaporlock. Putting the pump in the tank often removes much of that problem, although mine has never done it with the external.

Why not have one made to replace your existing one?
Would have an internal pump and baffles too.
Save ya the space in the bed as well.

I had one custom built for my 1st gen and it saved me over 8"s over ground clearance behind the diff.

Has made a huge difference for wheeling, last tank took a rock and almost ended my weekend right there.

That is a nice fuel cell. My problem is not ground clearance, but since I am going to run 64's in the rear I do not want the diff to hit the tank. If I had the extra cash I would love to have one custom made, but the $100 cell from summit is looking pretty good.

Brent can you tell me what pump you are running?

Is your blazer strictly a trail ride?
Or is it driven on the street/licensed?

I ask because as soon as you install that cell in the bed, your no longer street legal.
(I believe but check in your state to be sure)

I hear ya on the cost but I need/use the bed, so it just wasn't an option for me.
It was around $600.00 shipped.

It's still nowhere near the diff though.
Did tuck it up into the frame rails more though, still have an 18 gallon capacity.

Any pics of the blazer, sounds good from your sig description.

That's a sweet set up VT, wish I had gone that route when I built mine, but I'm a cheap bastard.

It is still under construction, but is a pic of it as of last weekend. It will be a trail only rig.

Thanks, followed it up with a flush mount gas door.
