I've got an 82 with an unknown quadrajet sitting on top of it. When you put it to the floor it will spit and sputter and almost stall out, but if you feather the throttle into the high rpms its fine. Plus, it seems to only really bog down while its in gear. I wanted to hit a bog on Sunday and don't really know a whole lot about the tuning of a SBC.

How do I determine if its carb or igniton? I've adjusted the timing and can't seem to get the hesitation out.

How does it idle? I would be hooking up a fuel pressure guage and starting there.

Could possibly be a bad accelerator pump.

Secondary air door is opening too soon, causing over rich mixture, by pulling secondary needle's up. Pick up the book entitled "Rochester Carburetor's" by Doug Roe.
Everything You need to know is in that book, from monojet's, to electric Q-jet's. It's a must have if you want to tune your Quad. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Fuel Delivery or Spark problem? will buick quadrajet fit chevy?

So do could I adjust it extermally via the linkage?

Also, I can get a free quad that was known to run good (my carb dosen't have that good of a reputation) my buddy will give it to me. Only deal is it came off a buick 350.... will it bolt?

As long as all the cable hook ups are the same, then that Q-jet from the Buick will bolt up fine.
