fuel guage problem

When the tank is full it does go a bit past the full mark, maybe about 1/4" past or so.

or your fuel gauge may not be hooked up at all. Mine isn't and its way way past full

Could be a bad ground wire at the tank, or a bad sender.

go to the tank and unplug the wire for the gauge, i believe it will stay past full, and ground it to the frame, and it should go to empty, then if it does, it has a bad sender.
