So I cut a access hole in the floor of my suburban. I am planning to add a access door over, but want to see what other people have done. I know what I am wanting to do, but want to see what others have done.
I went for simple, yet effective. I figure it's not something I'll need to access more than once every 3-5 years or so tops.

I want to do that, except hinge one side. The main problem seems to be finding a price that fits the Suburban floor. One of the ribs running length wise on the floor is double the width of the others.
So use a pick-up floor piece as a donor except make two halves meeting at the double wide rib. As long as your two edge ribs come together to end up the same width as the double wide it'd all work out. Then you can hinge both sides.
Then again I don't see the point of hinging anything that would be used so infrequently.

Those are screws, not rivets...and it is yellow (for now) and most importantly i did not personally cut the access hole, that was the mouth breather I bought this thing from.

I thought that was what pocket knives were for.....Can't bring power tools into the junk yards around here![]()
--we used that method quite frequently at the junkyard where we couldn't use torches due to pine needles and other hazards..they work pissa for cutting cab mount & shackle rivets off too,by wedging it between the frame and mount and giving it a few good whacks..just wear safety goggles & gloves..cut out a larger peice than you need so it can be trimmed at home to fit..I have used cold chisels, and air chisel body panel cutters with "manual" hammers too,but found the hatchet easier to handle..one guy came to the junkyard equipped with a tank like oxogen comes in and used it with his air chisel to cut some parts off he needed once!..
