I've had trouble with the fuel pump. The truck is a '99 K2500(7.4L/4L80E).

The pump quits. I drop tank replace pump with new $370 AC Delco unit.

Truck runs fine for a few weeks. Pump quits again. I drop tank thinking "Man am I gonna give the counter man some "stuff". So, just to make sure I plug it back in and low and behold it pumps. So I reassemble and go on our merry way. Fast forward a couple months. The pump quits again. Last night I drop the tank again, pump most certainly not buzzin'. I get the tank lowered and I unplugged the connector. I get up for a glass of cold pink lemonade. Just for grins I plug the connector back in and try the key. It works again and the truck starts and runs.

I did a little searching and found a reference to an oil pressure switch that might cause the pump not to run. Also the factory alarm has been doing strange things lately so I was wondering if this might be contributing to the problem.

Anyone have any thing they would like to reply with?

I was hoping someone would know how to disable the factory alarm. It sets itself automatically and I find this annoying. Recently it has quit waiting until the doors are closed to reset and it will just go off.

Anyone?

Issues with the factory alarm is definitely a possible cause, though obviously can't guarantee it because I don't know how this is set up. Most of the ones I have dealt with have some sort of kill switch built into them that prevents the car from starting if triggered.

I have read elsewhere that the connector to the tank might be loose and I think this could be a cause as twice now I have dropped the tank and r&r the connector and the pump worked.

If it were the oil pressure switch I would think the pump would at least prime until the switch cut it off. It(the pump) was doing nothing. I tried a new relay under the hood but no change was noted so I dropped the tank.

I would like to know how to get the alarm to stop auto setting. Anyone know where I could get some instructions on how to reprogram it?

TIA
Rich
