Fuel tank sending unit

Can I put a sending unit off a 1982 carb truck into a 87 tbi tank? I understand the tbi tank has a baffle, I'm not sure if it will conflict with the gauge reading or pickup.

They both are going to be 20 gallons and I'm curious for future engine swap.

yes will fit.

but 82 = no setup for pump if you still need the pump.

That's ok, because if I do end up doing a fuel injection swap later down the road I would like a in tank pump.
