I have a full convertible top that needs restoration. I was curious if anyone has successfully eliminated the seams? Any tips for the general restoration?

Yes sorry for not being clear. I would like to restore the original hard top. Any advice would be great.

Do the seams act as expansion joints? I'm wondering if the body work would crack from body flex while driving.

I'm not a body guy. Doesn't seam sealer work for that sort of thing?

There was some discussion a while back, can't remember the thread, about the surface finish. The theory was that something rough had to go down before the paint to simulate the factory finish. Sanding it down for paint would leave it smooth.

Well that is what I have found, luckily prior to paint work. Might be best to leave the joints as is. I honestly don’t know why I even want the hard top but, I thought it would nice to extend its use into the fall.
