Any of you use or used a Fumoto Oil Drain Valve?

We have them on a few Class 8 trucks at work. No complaints, seem to be built well.

I’ve had one on my Duramax since 2011. Very happy with it.

I also have one on my Duramax. It does drain a bit slower vs removing a regular plug, but not an issue as I always rotate tires and grease the zerks at that time.

I’ve got one on both Cummins engines.
it’s slow, but so am I.

Thanks! Because I was sick and didnt feel like changing the oil, I took the Honda to Express Oil change.
They stripped the pan threads and said they were that way when I came in.
I have ordered a Time Sert set and thought I would try the Fumoto valve going forward.

I have never had to heli-coil or timesert a drainplug . Steel or aluminum just tap to the next closest size in american or metric .

Sorry about your luck, but that is one of many reasons why I don’t let anyone work on my stuff.

They had the impact on tighten when they tried to remove the plug. "IT WONT TURN BOSS."
Thats what ive heard...there is no reason an impact wrench should ever be used on any drain plug....period.

This isnt the first encounter though...one time they managed to cause the crush washer to weld to the drain plug...

Never again

The worst thing is you go in for an oil change and end up with ruined engine. At least with the Fumoto I can direct the oil into a container and have less mess to cleanup. The oil filter is still messy unless somebody has a trick. Also, none of the auto parts stores recycle oil, so getting rid of it is troublesome.

Every O'Reilly I have been to takes it. I use it for heat.
I have made sheet metal troughs for everything I own to direct the filter oil away from stuff.

Walnarts takes used oil. Hell just leave it at their doorstep. F em.

I remember a time when you could buy "recycled oil" in a green bottle for maybe 25% less. Then it went away, making me think all oil is potentially partly recycled (/synthetic), or some new use was found for used oil (my road isn't dusty).

Pretty much every car parts store I've been to will take used oil. They just don't all take the old jugs (aren't those oil, too?). There is usually a place at a scrap yard or dump with a giant tank you can pour old oil in (or whatever, how can they tell?)

I poke a hole in the bottom of mine and let it drain. Easy peasy!
Never heard of a parts store not taking used oil. But I have seen people change oil on the roadside out in the middle of nowhere. Just dump it on the ground, fill & go.
