I get a crispy 8~10 around town.

As long as I am not in a lot of traffic, idling away at stop lights, my MPG averages about 12, but if I get heavy on the throttle I can get it down to about 7 MPG.

I remember my 1970 SS Chevelle (402 CID, tunnel ram, and dual carbs) would get about 600 Ft. per Gallon when I stomped on it. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

88, stock engine (350 TBI) 155K miles, rebuilt tranny and 10 bolts with 3.42's running 33x10.50 BFG AT's.

When I got it I could just manage 14mpg on the highway with a leaky 'ol factory TBI setup. Now after replacing the TBI with a Holley TBI, installing a free flowing exhaust, making a dual snorkel air filter housing, and lots of chip tuning (by a third party), I got 18.732 mpg on my last trip at a steady 58-62 mph with the cruse on and the windows up. In town however, is another story entirely. I feel lucky if I can get 10 mpg. As soon as my newest toy (a prominator) arrives and I gain some more experience in tuning, I should be able to better that.

Running a VERY wrong timing curve, (1987 305 PROM) and thus far no adjustments made to compensate for all the other changes made to the engine.

Only long distance journey that didn't result in engine breakage (guess I can laugh about that now) MPG was 14. Thats approx. 150 miles freeway, maybe 30 miles of logging roads. Of course, logging roads are all up or downhill, at decent elevation, so that WILL come into play...overall I think that was fairly good at 70MPH for most of the distance, and the logging roads.

Same truck with a "basic" 350, q-jet, stock exhaust, everything else the same, got a best of 18MPG on a very flat road, on a cool night, at about 50-55MPH.
