I know its a pita, but I would pull the fuel pump and check it. You should see signs if the diaphragm is busted and letting fuel flow out around the lever.
You could easily score the bearings if it is, probably before you notice the gas in the oil again.
Flooding into the intake could do it, but if the engine is able to run, its probably not going to let enough gas by to notice for quite a while, whereas the fuel pump could easily pump in a gallon or so in just a few minutes.
