Guess you've never noticed that the vast majority of the media is slanted towards the left, that democrat/liberal views and issues almost always get good press, that republican/conservative views and issues usually get negative press, etc etc etc? People like Rush Limbaugh and G Gordon Liddy are the minority in the media. Since "enviromental" issues are a popular leftist issue, it always gets covered. Watch a little nightly news, and tell me that it isn't left biased. Try some "Red" Dan Rather for a week.
Oil spills are like airplane crashes. They are horrible, but they are few. However, no one cares if an airplane flies across the country and lands safely. If it crashes, and lots of people die, then it's news. Same for an oil tanker. Everyday hundreds of thousands (if not more) of barrels worth of oil is being floated, driven, piped, whatever across the world. Who cares? Nothing interesting there. As soon as one of those oil tankers runs aground, a truck over turns, or a pipe bursts, it's a world wide news event.
Yeah, the Exxon Valdez was a horrible disaster, but I don't know about the worst. Seems to me ol' Mt Saint Helens blowing it's top did a bit more damage than all that evil oil. Hmmmmm, you want us to cap all volcanos and outlaw lava?
So where are we supposed to get our oil if we can't use our own? I guess where we already get it, from the OPEC, meaning the middle east, and a little from Micronesia and South America. So I guess all that oil that Saddam Hussein released into the Persian Gulf back in '91 doesn't matter, because you aren't 'wheeling there. Wonder what Nyyef has to say about that? How about in South America? You aren't there, I know Blazer79 would have an issue with oil on his beaches (yes, I know Guatemala is in Latin America).
I'd bet the chances of an oil spill off Pismo or any US beach if we started drilling our resources would be just as likely as an airplane falling on you if a million more people suddenly became qualified pilots.
Think about your arguments.
