The PO installed an aftermarket 30+ gallon gas tank in my Jimmy. During the installation they actually cut a 4 inch diameter hole in the floor about where the sending unit is  !! I am going to patch the hole and put an aftermarket/stock tank in.

I keep reading that the filler neck on these need to be replaced with the one from the stock tank to make them work/not hit the body mount. Anyone have an old gas tank they would cut off the filler neck from leaving the two bolts and flange so I can put a correct gas tank in and sell it to me?

TIA
Mark

I need this for a 1969-1972 tank

No cutting required, there is a rubber hose connecting it to the tank.
I am guessing you need the filler neck that goes from the fender down plus the steel filler tube that goes flat to the gas tank?
If so I have those, make me a reasonable offer for them, I wanted them for a future project which looks like it will be in the very far future.:o

No from what I am reading the 6 inch or so filler tube sticking out of the aftermarket tanks points right at the body mount instead of turning away from it like the stock tank. I've been reading where most guys are removing the filler tube from their stock tankl and having it soldered onto the aftermarket tank. Since I don't have my stock tank I am looking for the filler tube off of a stock tank. It would be easier for someone to just cut around the attaching point of their old rusted tank and I will have it soldered onto the aftermarket tank.

If the "Filler tube that goes flat to the tank is what I am talking about I am interested but it doesn't sound like it?

Thanks for the offer, I hope I am making it clearer?

OK I know a few guys that had bashed up tanks, I will see if they still have them to cut that piece off.
It would be a shame to cut one of mine they are so nice :D

No problem I wouldn't want you to trash a good one. If someone has one make sure they cut the gas tank and not the filler tube. I want the two bolts and flange so I can unsolder. Thanks in advance.

I have a complete stock tank and filler neck assembly. where are you located? If its close enough I would prefer that you pick it up and cut it yourself.

Mass, a bit far for a pick up. Is the tank junk, I wouldn't want you to ruin a good tank. If it is a junk tank just cut a few inches around the mounting flange (where the two bolts are) and I should be OK. Tin snips should work once you've got a hole started. If you have any more questions post up or PM me.

Thanks for the reply.

it's a good tank, I was going to use it in my pickup but got a cell off a friend.

If you don't want to cut up a good tank I understand. How many gallon is it? and what year is it from?

If you have seen my truck you would know that I am not afraid to cut something up. I don't know the gallons. it came out of a blazer that a guy was parting out at a swap meet.

I don't think it will fit I need a 1969-72. If someone knows if this will work please speak up.

Thanks again.

I have called all over the country, posted on a couple of sites and nobody has one :(
