Ok, so I was under the impression the gas tank in my 91 k5 was like 20ish gallons, well I just filled her ip, took 21 and change gallons, and it was just below half way, though it filled up on the guage past full, so what the hell are they, 30 gallons?

Lol hopefully more then 310, guy I bought the truck from said if he kept a light foot he was getting 14-15 around town and 19-20 on the highway. Lol now that I filled her up I can see.

id be ok with that, once I start my new job, i will be leasing a car that gets like 30+MPG, haven't decided what, so I wont be driving the truck every day, so itll be ok.

There is no way you'll get 19-20 at anytime. When my rig was bone stock with 31" tires and factory 3.73's i got 14 on the freeway with a light foot. Just remember that since you've installed a taller tire your odometer is now incorrect and you can't use it to accurately calculate mileage anymore.

Also, gasoline weighs roughly 6.25lbs per gallon at 72*. Temp changes the weight slightly.

I was getting a solid 14 in my Suburban with old plugs, bad coil, corroded cap, corroded wires, and a corroded rotor :haha:I still need new wires and and a new coil but that wasn't in the budget this time around(I also had to replace the dizy shaft and since it was out replaced the pickup).

I discovered a few things on my rig that helped.. I don't put it in OD till I'm cruising at 55. Don't lead foot it and use the cruise control. I suspect a K5 should get at least what I get now..

Ok, so say im not comforable recalibrating my speedo like that link, is there a way I can use my new tire size and figure out how many miles ive actually driven, and thus my actual MPG?

Just take your rig to a speedo shop and have them re-calibrate it for you. It should only cost around $100.00 or so, that's what i paid here in Cali and everything seems to be cheaper once you leave this state.

Its not so much the money, well partly the money, but im going to be putting 35 inch tires on it next summerish, dont want to have to pay to have it done again then, just looking for a way that I can figure out my MPG now.
