Hello everyone. This is my first post here, and I really enjoy reading and learning from all the others. That being said, I have a few questions about my truck/project. Here is what I am starting with:
1985 1 ton 4x4 crew cab (Single Wheel)
stock D60 front and FF 14 b rear, 3.73 gears
6" lift( rear blocks, front springs) 35" tires
TBI 350, 700R4, NP241 (unknown year, presumably all from same donor)
cobbled together wiring to make the TBI work,
From what I can tell, the stock 454/400/205 has been canibalized and replaced with the current under-powered set up. I have been collecting parts and have a pretty good plan on what I want to do as far as the power train goes, But I want some more info before I make it final and drop some cash.
Here is what I have:
496 bbc, heavy duty TH400 from late 70's class A motor home with tail shaft mounted E-Brake, NP 203 from 78K20 with TH400, NP205(32 Spline from TH400), Divorced NP203 input gear from a F*rd.
My plan is to run a ORD doubler with the twin stick divorced from the TH400 so I can swap to rear discs and retain my E brake. The Truck is unter powered, and I already have the new motor and tranny. Eventually I an strongly considering a P-pump 12 v cummins and a NV4500, but in that event I will keep the divorced 203/205.
My question is this: Has anyone ever either run, or heard of anyone running this set up with or without a gear vendors OD unit? Also, I would like to space out the t-case assembly where ever I need to so that I can use a rear drive shaft from a single cab long box truck. my thinking behind this is that the font and middle drive shafts will need to be custom, and I would like to be able to use as many factory available parts as possible. My ultimate goal is to have a truck that will have seroius off road capabilities, but also run doen the highway comfortably at respectable speeds and be able to tow, haul, or pass anything I need to. Thanksin advance, any info will help.

I have nothing to add except a completely factory divorced set up with a doubler would have to be unique and perfect for a 3+3. Sounds pretty neat.

Thanks! I'm also in search of some cosmetic stuff. I'm going with a GMC quad headlight set from a 89-91 sub with no emblem on the grille, some 73 Cheyenne Super 30 fender emblems(thats where im from), an 81-82 front bumber with LED's in the turn signal holes, bumperettes, and a 96 Impala bowtie hood ornament. Also leaning towards a Lund fiberglass cab visor with clearance lights. I have found that some ?87-93? conversion vans had the mirrors like the chrome ones on square bodies, but they came with a power option. I haven't been able to locate any, i guess they are pretty rare. Got a set of clean steel 16" factory wheels, and I'm gonna add externally threaded lug nuts and plastic center caps from a 02 3/4 ton chevy, just cut out the centers in the front for the hubs. I have seen quite a few 3+3's done as short boxes, but I'm kicking around the idea of doing it with a long box step side
