Geronimo: 1959 Chevy Apache

1959 Chevy Apache long bed Fleetside with some modern stuff inside. Built for long trips
It would be hard to see a rope seal.

Martin
The leak they cause wouldn't be hard to see. The 283 in our '59 we restored at work weeps from the rope seal. It might have 1,000 miles on the rebuild.

Yeah I saw what you were doing for cosmetic reasons, I just had to say it because they did have serpentines on SBC too, just not in 59 obviously. I actually did look to see if Alan Grove had a setup, but they didn't, it was all serpentine for LS, probably because the pulley is literally built into the harmonic damper so you would have to change the whole damper to convert it.

Does anyone sell a setup to put v-belts on an LS?

Martin
I haven't seen one.

Lokar makes all sorts of stuff to make an LS look more vintage but their accessory drive kit still looks modern to me.

They do sell some pretty sweet looking Fuelie intakes for these but the prices are nuts

Decided to get back into the project. I hope to actually make some progress this winter.

This weekend I marked where the shock mounts need to be welded on to the axle housing. Then I removed the axle and disassembled it. I carried the housing over to my brothers house so he can weld the shock tabs this week. When he's done, I'll have the housing powder coated. The 3rd member is going to get 3.70 gears and a Detroit Tru Trac.

Earlier this year, I had the driveshaft made.

Also, I set up the throttle cable and pedal with some off the shelf parts from the local auto parts store. It works but not super happy. So I went ahead and ordered some Lokar parts to replace that, just need to install them still.

I thought I posted this earlier. Latest pics of the engine bay with the plug wires, finished fuel line, throttle cable (1st setup that I'm gonna change) and air cleaner on it

This winter, I think I'm going to have the body shop that my brother works at, restore the Hood and maybe some other smaller parts. Then I'll get the rear axle finished, move on to running brake lines and I really need to get the bed squared away

Thanks guys. Mission accomplished.

Besides the apache, ive been busy with a few other things the last 6 months.

And my brother and I made real good progress this year on the 1931 Ford Model A we are building for my dad.
