Friends room mate has a v6, locked rear s10, it honesty goes everywhere he needs it to and keeps up for the local off road spot and trails.. Well he had to hop on the solid axle swap bandwagon. He drove this to northern utah.. had an old friend of ours build it and he drove it home..

He is not very mechanical and has no money.. they used crap from the guys pile of crap and built a taller pile of crap.

-The drag link was cut and butt welded back together.
-u-bolt washers
-u-bolt is wrong size for the tube
-front hangers are not se-metrical..and bent/crooked
-steering knuckle has a cut pitman arm booger welded to it for steering:eek1:
-springs upfront have 1 of the bushing that are too small..
-thread engagement on the tie rod is non-existent :eek1:
-rear sags so they added a helper spring..

there is way more. My mouth dropped and I cant believe just how crapy the fab is let alone the fact that it made it here from salt lake city:crazy:

just scary. The rear drive line also has what looks to be 20 passes on it from them making it longer

oh..and the grade 5 bolts for the centering pins!

Wow I can't believe that thing passes any sort of inspection... or perhaps it hasn't come up yet lol. Custom coil spring swap too! lmao

Dear god...I wouldnt drive that thing on the highway!

I liked it better when it was really low , IFS , and tig bitty was hanging out the winder . At least then it worked OK on the stuff by Sycamore Creek

there are few instances where i actually sit looking at my screen with my mouth wide open in disbelief. this was one of them.

Shawn, you should submit it to scary steering.......

That thing is booty full. Looks like someone got a welder for christmas.:D

Got any pics of the driveline?

Just one question, how many tickets did he get while driving that thing out of here? I can't imagine that any officer wouldn't stomp all over that thing, all it would take is for them to see the tires not covered. If he didn't get hassled at all, have him pick me up some powerball tickets, he has the luck of the irish.

You know, I'm for doing your own thing.

This kind of stuff is what gives the "other side" ammo against our sport/hobby/lifestyle....

I wouldn't be concerned if it was strictly an off road rig, but on a public hiway is just stupid.

Can you imagine what the media would do with this should it fail & take out a minivan full of kids?

Our sport has enough problems (legislatively), we don't need to give ourselves black eyes.

just my $.02...

:dunno:

the mud flaps are made from floor mats..

I even have a problem with the wheeling of stuff like this . My reasoning is most of us work our asses off during the week at a job , then bust our asses off getting the junk ready to wheel safely with little breakage if we can help it .

I sure as hell don't want to waste time , effort , and money sitting and waiting for some jackoff in a ghetto fab truck clogging up a tight trail . Or worse yet , being the unlucky guy who gets suckered into helping the fool drag that crap to the side , or back to the staging area .

I prefer to help the other guy like me who built it right , and broke it wheeling hard , with the parts in the toolbox that are already with us because we thought ahead :D

Didn't know the lead mechanic of the 4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers in Columbus, OH moved out to Utah after they shut the doors........

Okay, so probably not the same guy but I am serious when saying that when the 4 Wheel Parts branch store was open here in Columbus their lead mechanic/fabricator put out stuff just like that (seen 3 of his "creations" on the trail and none of them made it more than an hour before crapping all over the place).

I can dig that. If I was there, & a p.o.s. like that was broken down I'd offer a ride but I wouldn't waste my time helping. Of course, I wouldn't leave him in a life threatening position, but a good 10 or 20 mile walk would certainly give him some serious food for thought....:D
