Just double checking as I think mine are going out. Getting colder and starts are getting harder. Reminds me a lot of when Big Ugly needed new plugs two years ago.

Big Ugly being a 24v CUCV got Wellman 070's. Never looked much at the civy vehicles but AC60G's were what everyone on SteelSoldiers were recommending a while back for 12v conversions. Just wanted to see what you guys had to say.

The AC60G's are good, but take longer to get to full glow so they often don't work so good with the factory glow controller. The Kennedy quick heats are also self limiting, and hit full glow as fast or faster than the stock GP's...so they work quite well with the factory glow controller.

I run the quick heats in my pick-up, and they've been pretty good. I did have a few burn out on me but after replacing those two or three it's been really good the last few months.

Really? I was wondering because I remembered you having trouble with them in the past.

Where does a guy get those? Kennedy's website?

It was about 10 degrees F this morning when I woke up and hasn't been above freezing since Thursday. Yeah...starting this morning was bad. Runs fine once started but starting is getting tricky. Glad I got it in the garage finally.

Yeah, I think they're about $75 for 8 or so...on the kennedy site. I dunno if I just had a few sketchy ones or what. The pick-up had 7 quick heats and an 11G Paul couldn't reach to swap when I got it. A couple weren't working, 2 maybe? Dremu had a set of new quick heats for sale so I bought those, and replaced all 8 and threw the 7+1 in a drawer. 6 months later a couple weren't working again, so using my batt charger I went through my left overs from the drawer and replaced the two with two that worked.

That was a year or more ago and all 8 still work now. Dunno what to say really, but they do work quite well with no need for manual control and have been good for quite a while now.

I think mixing different brands or part numbers affects how ALL the glow plugs work..
I had no choice but to put in 2 autolite used ones I had from a parts 6.2 with a busted crank, and ever since I did,I have either had starting troubles or it simply WONT start when its below 30 degrees or so..I have been forced to use starting fluid twice,to plow my driveway..(now the truck wont move,I think the rear end is F*****,but thats another post altogether!)..:(

I read somewhere the different types of glow plugs draw different amps,or have different resistance, and as a result can reduce the current going to the other glow plugs..(also I wonder if having a "dead" glow plug or more than one afftects how the others work?),,,but I had 7 out of 8 put in new in my trucjk back in '03 when I got it,and left the one I cant get all the way out in it with the wire hanging off it and it always started fine till recently--when I discovered 3 of the AC 60Gs were not only not working, salt had eaten them away SO badly the "hex" on them was about 1/4",I had to hammer on a 6 point 8MM socket on them to get them out,and was lucky they DID come out!..

I couldn't belive how rotted they were for only being 5 years old--while the autolites from my parts engine looked brand new,and I know they were in that motor for years..shortly after I put the 2 autolites in,is when I the engine had it's "horrible clattering noise" spell..might be coincidence--but I'm praying one didn't swell up or drop into the cylinder!..seeing they aren't "rated" for a manual push button glow plug switch like I have,I'm hoping they didn't burn up or expand ..
