Well **** for 50K I'd hope so!

alcohol? what does she run on?

that right there is the same hp monster trucks have with blown 540 alcohol burnin big blocks. I would give my left nut for that motor and my right thumb to see a video of a k5 with that in it hitting a mud pit.

Just a heads up ,,,,do not get this motor,,,, its the Lm1 http://www.gmpartsdepot.com/store/product1.aspx?SID=2&Product_ID=516&Category_ID=74I bought mine for 1000.00 bucks because i knew a guy who worked there . If i were to do it over i woulndt have, its pretty weak.I would have spent an extra 1000 bucks even for something else. I am now looking at installing a cam ,heads ,etc now, because the thing was weaker than i thought it would be.
Its not that bad in my opinion, but it is lacking . For the price i got a deal, but in the end i wish i would have spent the extra and just built a 383 or something.

Also, the warrantee is kind of BS. I had an oil consumtion problem before, oddly enough, it was the intake manifold that was warped causing the oil consumtion. But at any rate, they told me even if the thing burned 2 quarts every thousand miles it was "within GM operating standards" ,,knowing the damn well the rings diddnt seat . Or the valve guides were letting oil get by. So if you get one that burns oil, you might be SOL. A freind of mine used to work at GM here in Sacramento, and he said the valve guides usually would be the problem.
At any rate, it dosent burn oil anymore, it runs *fine* ,but thats it, nothing special. Id get a 383 built if you have the coin ,or buy a really good crate engine. The one you picked looked ok. Good luck, Jacob:)

I'll be a year or 2 before I buy a crate engine. I'm still at the dreaming part of it all.

I had installed one in my 77:k5: about 3 years ago.I have hade no problems at all.I payed 1100 for the motor at a local dealership got a three year warrenty but I had to take it in to let the dealer inspect the install to make sure it was done right. If I did not take it back I would have gotten only one year on the warrenty.I hade put a power plus manifold flowes better than a edelbrock and cheeper, headers and a reworked q-jet and reworked hei.I was going to build one but the time and all the money spent on machine work and the parts I would have spent that already. Best thing I have done:grin: mike

I've been doing some pricing on the 290hp/350cid GM crate engine. Jeg's has the lowest price. Even with shipping costs, Jeg's beats my local Chevy dealership by over a couple hundred dollors. (Note; no shipping at local Chevrolet dealership).

alot of money for a crate engine plus most all of them are hecho en mexico now and i hear bad stuff about the castings, my stepdad bought one for 1300 for his 82 k-10 and it needs oil added to it now and then already and its about two years old

1300 is a damn lot of cash, 1300 can get you an original non mexican REALLY super nice running 350 lol

hell i come across 150 dollar 350s all the time that run strong and are fine

so i dunno,

i guess ppl like to spend alot of cash

must be nice to be rich lol

good luck
