anyone know of a kit to convert my serpentine GM CS alternator from rear positive post to side battery post?

What about getting another thin nut and trimming the post?

Yes,
I did that, not happy with it.

Learned that there was a kit to relocate the positive post to the side, but couldn't find it.

Found a Power Master alternator with the positive post on the side, but it was for a v-belt system, need a serpentine set up.

Yes I did

Thought about a spacer to move the crank/water pump pullys and serpentine brackets out a little, so I googled it, and found the crank pulley spacer, I was looking at the 1/4 inch. anyone ever did this?

You can buy a side-post alternator, but I don't know if anybody sells a kit to convert. That might be simpler than finding reliable spacers for everything on the belt. Or possibly different valve covers. It's always been tight on SBC. I know mine is close but it's never been a problem.

Take the picture &: alternator to s competent Auto Electric rebuilder....

They should have answers, parts etc to resolve the issue.

A new alternator would be a thought.

Yes I did
On my '90, the plug faces outward to the left fender, which is how I have found several of them to be. That would put the charge post up from where it is. I don't know if it would give enough clearance due to the valve cover shape.

My budy had the same issue, I think we just cut the stud off completely and put the ring terminal under the hex. I thnk we had to pull the alternator apart to do it but it was a pretty basic deal. We just put a big disconnect connection 6" away from the alternator for future disconnects as we couldnt remove the wire from tha actual alternator without dssasembly after that

I ordered a Powermaster 47461 alternator. This is a left offset alternator. Battery post is positioned on the side. I hope this alternator is the answer to my clearance issue.
I don't like my spacer idea at all!
I'm using a serpentine bracket system from the 88-92 Camaro. There's a bracket that goes from the rear of the alternator to the header bolt which I want to use.
I needed these tall valve covers to clear the rocker arm stud girdle, got them from Ansen , made in the USA, laser engraved, turned out beautiful!Ansen USA.jpgcs130.jpg

Update:
Side post alternator

Purchased a Power Master Alternator #47461.

The driver/passenger side accessory brackets are from a 1988-1992 Camaro.

This alternator was the perfect answer to my problem with the charge post touching the tall valve cover.
