I finally got one for my Blazer! :woot:

Installation seemed pretty straightforward since the bolt holes all line up but that’s not the case. When I pull the knob to raise the idle it doesn’t make any change, there’s some free play in the accelerator pedal on the accelerator cable but it appears to be normal.

Here are some pics of it bolted in and a video showing the pedal free play, does this all look correct? Am I missing something? @obijuank5 don’t you have one on the crew cab?

91 Blazer with the original 350 accelerator cable.

Looks factory I like it I liked the one Bent out on his shifter a couple years back thought that was slick also

Very cool you got one!

I have one too… looks right to me.
Haven’t used mine in some time, my cable decided to divorce the knob, but I remember it takes quite a bit of pull before it works.

Install looks correct. I could go look again at mine tomorrow. Don’t think you’re missing anything though.

How much did you get raped for it!?

When I pull the controller all the way out it just barely moves the pedal.

I paid $80 SHIPPED(!!), I got it from a guy on the 67-72 Chevy forum. I kept waiting for the guy to message me and say he made a mistake on the price but he never did.

Great score!
I’ll look at mine tomorrow for you.
It should get you almost anywhere you want to go…. Not WOT. But a good high idle for sure.

It looks like the slotted dash mount holes have some adjustment left. Can you straighten the bends in the connecting flat metal to slightly lengthen the assembly, so it will tighten the cable?
Or maybe a spacer to take some of the accelerator cable slack out? (aka zip tie)
Or possibly a nylon bushing from HD over the nylon pin to increase diameter?

ETA -maybe the mounting flange for the knob could be tweaked a bit as well.

@Capt Ron It works pretty freely, my problem is with the controller fully extended it barely touches the accelerator pedal pivot rod.

@flatland I’ll loosen the nuts and try to move the assembly towards the drivers set some but I don’t think the holes on the pedal bracket have much room to let it move.

You definitely have to adjust it at the pedal end. It has a set screw down there under the dash on that white piece. It might be really difficult because the steel wire might be kinked. Don’t back it all the way out lol

I have mine set pretty good but where you thread it out a whole turn or maybe more before something happens. It’s kinda sloppy.

Congrats! I know you've been looking for a long time.

Ok that makes sense. I didn’t notice a set screw but I’ll mess with it this evening, thank you!

That’s a good tip.

I looked at mine. Didn’t get a pic but it’s same anyway.

The cable is not attached to the bar between the pedal bracket and dash bracket. Straightening ( or bending) the bar between the two attachments should change cable tension. Even 1/4" may make a fair difference in rpm range.

In addition, the bent down flange that the knob is mounted on may allow some adjustment by bending in/out to alter cable position, again changing tension/position of the pin in relation to the pedal.

Thanks for posting the pics, they are excellent. I am planning to use them as a reference for fabbing this setup to go on mine.
Good luck, and I'll send my address if you get tired of working on it!

Good ideas @flatland I took it back off to look at it so if you need any measurements etc let me know. (I’ll keep you in mind if I decide to get rid of it but it’s not looking good :D )

I did find the hex set screw for adjusting the bell crank on the cable. Here are some pics for documentation.
